Robert West

I joined Ivor and Susie at Dunkertons Cider in 1981 and remained working for them for thirty three years until I retired from full time cider making in 2014.

I chose to come to Herefordshire in 1975 to study to become a teacher because I loved the unspoilt, rural nature of the county. I soon realised teaching was not for me but Herefordshire was.

I began with gardening work for Ivor and Susie and soon I was involved in the cider making as the business grew, eventually becoming the chief cider maker in the small workforce.

Working at Dunkertons gave me the opportunity to make a product that was part of the history of Herefordshire and is an important feature of the future development of the county.
