Self Led Challenges

Eight Peaks Challenge

Sponsor: Red Kite Fostering

You can take part in this event either walking or running. You find your own way round using a map. Go either clockwise or anticlockwise; it's your choice. The winner is the person or team who collects the most clipper marks and in the case of a tie, the fastest time around. Registration and info sheets with marker cards available from 9:00am till 12 noon from the event centre start: Red Kite Centre, The Meads, Kington, HR5 3DQ. You can check back in until 18:00 and collect the Eight Peaks Challenge Certificate which will show your recorded time. The Event Centre will close at 18:00. The eight peaks are to the north and west of Kington and each gives a different perspective of the amazing views of the area. They range in height from 303 to 426 meters with Kington being at 170m. On each hill there will be a clipper to mark your card. There are also three extra clippers to assist you in keeping to footpaths and not stray.

Explorer map 201 will be needed for this event.

There is an oak board displaying the winners names and times in the dining room of the Oxford Arms, Kington.
