A minibus will drop us in Huntington, now a quiet hamlet although once planned to succeed Kington whose castle had been sacked by raiders in the C13th. Passing the ruins of Huntington Castle we will soon join the Offa's Dyke National Trail to the south of Gladestry. We will then follow the Trail through the village and climb Broken Bank leading out onto the wide expanse of Hergest Ridge, with its extraordinary views of the Radnor Forest in the west, Clee Hills and Malverns in the east and the scarp of the Black Mountains in the south.  Passing the 700 million year old Hanter Hill (the oldest rocks in Wales)  and the iconic monkey puzzle trees, we are rewarded with yet more sensational views across Stanner Rocks, Bradnor Hill, and Herrock Hill. We then  descend from the ridge, alongside Yeld Wood on our left and Hergest Croft Gardens on our right finishing our walk back in Kington.
