Dogs
We regret that, with the exception of registered assistance dogs, dogs are NOT allowed on any of the led walks. Dogs are however welcome on the Eight Peaks Challenge, the Three Peaks Challenge and self led waks when they must be kept on a lead at all times.
Clothing
You will be expected to ensure that you are properly equipped for the grade and length of walk. For walks graded 2, 3 and 4; walking boots, a waterproof jacket and trousers, warm clothes, gloves, hat and a rucksack are essential (it may be cold on the hilltops at any time of the year). We would strongly advise against walkers wearing jeans on any of our walks graded above level 1 as these are not sufficiently weatherproof. Walk leaders may refuse to take anyone not properly equipped or prepared.
Food and Drink
Ensure you have an adequate supply of water (and a hot drink if you wish) and sufficient food for the length of your walk. A packed lunch for an all day walk is strongly advised. Where refreshments are included on a walk this is clearly stated.
Safety
Your leader's duty is to the group and he/she may refuse to accept a walker whose clothing or equipment is unsuitable. If you choose to leave the group at any time during the walk your leader is no longer responsible for you.
Please have consideration for other people and keep mobile phone usage to a minimum.
We also ask all walkers not to smoke while on guided walks out of consideration for others and to avoid undue risk of fire or littering the countryside.
No liability will be accepted for loss or injury that occurs as a result of taking part in any walk or event.
Age
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Timing
Please arrive at the meeting point at least 10 minutes before the start of each walk. Walks will commence at the given time whether or not all participants have arrived. Please note that durations given for walks are approximate.
Booking
To avoid disappointment please book your place(s) online or by post. We anticipate that many of the walks will be fully booked prior to the event and early booking is advised.
Bookings are non-refundable except in the unlikely event that a walk is cancelled by the Festival organisers.
Closing Date for Bookings
Online bookings close at midnight on Wednesday 22nd April. During the festival it will be possible to book in person at the Festival Office, The Burton Hotel.
NB: Walks using public bus services
All information is correct at the time of going to press although both Herefordshire & Powys County Councils are reviewing public transport provision. Should a particular service be axed we shall make alternative arrangements. Walkers should be aware that this may entail a small extra charge.
