Walking for Health: every Thursday morning

An opportunity to meet, chat and walk with friendly people while enjoying the green open spaces Kington has to offer.

This year we are offering two walks:

  • 10:00 at Place de Marines: An extended 2 mile walk over slightly more challenging terrain.
  • 10:30 at Place de Marines: The original 1 mile walk around the recreation ground.

We will continue to hold a monthly social gathering for walkers at the Lion café with tea, coffee and cake funded by Kington Walks.

You may be referred through your medical professional or you may self refer via Kington Walks (email: walk4health@kingtonwalks.org tel: 07415 743409 )

All walks are dependent on the weather and abilities of the group. Strong footwear and clothing suitable for the forecast weather are essential.

Benefits of walking

Walking for Health is a national programme which aims to get people walking more through regular group walks led by trained volunteer leaders. Regular walking will lighten your mood and give you the benefit of sociable company. It can improve confidence, stamina and energy, and help control your weight. It can also keep your heart strong and reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, bowel cancer and osteoporosis.
