Description
Please bring a drink and light snack for the walk. Travel to the start point by minibus and a one-course Sunday lunch at The Royal Oak in Kington are included in the price of the walk. Things to note: There are 16 stiles and there may be cattle in one or two fields.
We meet at Mill Street carpark and take a minibus to our start point at the Great Oak.
Our walk starts at this 800-year-old amazing oak tree. We then start our walk, which follows the Herefordshire Trail to Kington. Our walk takes us through rolling pastureland, and we gradually climb to our high point of 812 feet. This is a linear walk that takes us through Upper Welson Marsh nature reserve, past Apostles Farm, Chickward, down Piccadilly and onto Kington. There are broad vistas initially to the south towards the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons and then northward towards Hergest Ridge and Bradnor Hill.
On our return to Kington, we make our way to the Royal Oak for a well-earned Sunday lunch
